NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University football scrimmage for the third time this fall on Monday morning.
The Monarchs worked several periods of two-minute drill, third down and red zone situation throughout the scrimmage.
Junior quarterback Taylor Heinicke was sharp during the scrimmage, hitting Kirk Spellman for a 30-yard touchdown in the first series and tossing a 30-yard score to Blair Roberts a few series later. Later in the scrimmage Heinicke hit Larry Pinkard for a 20-yard score.
D.J. Simon made several stops on the defensive side, notching a tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry. On the second series, Rob Thompson produced an interception for the defense.
Later in the scrimmage, Richie Staton and Rashaad Coward had tackles for loss and Gary Scruggs had a sack.
David Washington and Colin McElroy each tossed four-yard TD passes to Zach Pascal, who made several catches on the day.
Andre Simmons and Reggie Owens broke up passes for the defense while Malique Johnson had an interception.
