NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University football completed their 12th day of practice Saturday morning at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex Practice Field.
ODUSports.com is taking a closer look at this year’s team. Today we take a look at junior long snapper, Rick Lovato
When did you start playing football? I started playing Pop Warner football in sixth grade.
Why did you start playing football? My uncles were Division I athletes and football has always been a part of my life.
Who is your biggest role model? My biggest role model is my dad, he has taught me everything I know about life, sports, education and everything else.
What is your favorite football memory? My favorite memory is when we won against JMU my freshman year, in 2011.
Why ODU? I chose Old Dominion because my uncles went here, I love the coaching staff, the atmosphere is great, and I love the area.
What is it like playing in a sold-out stadium at Foreman field at S.B. Ballard Stadium? It is the most incredible feeling I have ever had.
What was your summer like? My summer consisted of school, football, and Netflix.
What is your major? Business Management
What is your favorite sport other than football? Ice Hockey
What is your favorite sports team? New Jersey Devils
Who is your favorite athlete? Oakland Raider’s long snapper, Jon Condo
What is your favorite movie? Man of Steel
Favorite Restaurant? Joyce’s Subs and Pizza
What’s on your iPod? Reggae, Rock, Metal, Country … everything.
What is your favorite thing about Hampton Roads? The beach
If you could play any other sport what would it be? Water Polo
What is something people don’t know about you? I am very flexible.
What is something people don’t know about being a long snapper? It is all mental and about consistency. It is a very unique position and takes a lot of hard work.
What are your goals for the season? To make every snap perfect and win every game.
