NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University football completed their first week of practice on Saturday.  The afternoon practice on Saturday was cancelled due to inclement weather in the area.

ODUSports.com will talk to a player every practice to let the fans get to know the Monarchs.

Today we take a look at redshirt junior wide receiver, Antonio Vaughan.

When did you start playing football? I started when I was in fifth grade.  My mom wanted to get me started in sports early.

Biggest Inspiration?  My Mom.  My mom has supported me real hard through my football career.

What do you like most about WR?  The up-tempo of our offense, we pass a lot so we look forward to getting the ball a lot.  I like to make plays so I love the ball in my hands.

What’s it like to go back for a kick or punt return? The biggest thing is to focus, to make sure your technique is right.  Then to be explosive after you catch the ball.

Favorite Football Memory? Winning the CAA last year.  It was my first ring, so it was very exciting.

Favorite sport other than football? Basketball

What are your favorite things to do in Hampton Roads area?  There is a lot of shopping around here and the beach is close so a lot of use go to the beach and throw the ball around out there.

Why ODU? It was my first offer and the spread offense was a big factor.  I really wanted to be in the spread offense with someone that passed the ball.  Everyone here treated me really well.

Wide receiver is a deep position, how do you guys interact with each other? A lot of good athletes out there, we just work hard every day.  We help each other out because we need everybody.

Favorite Food? Pizza

Favorite Restaurant? Applebee’s

Favorite Movie? Friday Night Lights

What is your pregame ritual like? I get taped in the training room, listen to some music. I watch some Victor Cruz highlights, go out on the field and catch some passes.

Something that most people don’t know about you?  I know how to play the piano a little bit.

What is it like to play in front of a sold out Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium? As soon as we step out the tunnel, chills go up your body.  The fans are yelling throughout the whole game and it’s a great atmosphere.

How does it feel to put the full pads on? It feels good.  Everybody on the team was waiting on this, so it was fun.

What is your major?  My major is sport management and I have a minor in communications.  Since I redshirted I’m going to try and get my Master’s in business.
