NORFOLK, Va. - With fall camp less than a week away, ODUSports.com caught up to junior cornerback Jevon Neal to ask him about the upcoming 2013 season and various other topics.

ODUSports.com Q&A with Jevon Neal - CornerBack - Austin, Texas

When did you start playing football and who got you involved? I started playing when I was five years old.  My dad actually asked me what I wanted to play, and I chose football.

Why Old Dominion? I felt like it was the best fit for me, not just for football but also academics.  I needed guidance to help me on my path to a degree, and ODU does a great job that.

What was spring football like for you? The toughest part was going up against the wide receivers and Taylor Heinicke.  It was good practicing against them.  They are a lot more advanced than some of the receivers I’ve played against before.

What did you want to prove this spring? I wanted to prove that I was an every down type of defensive back, that you can rely on me every quarter, and that I’m a team player and that I put the team before myself.

What are you looking forward to the most playing the likes of East Carolina, Maryland, Idaho, Pittsburgh and North Carolina?  I’m looking forward to better competition and bigger crowds.  It’s something I’ve dreamed of for a long time.

What are you looking forward to playing in a sold out Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium?  I’m looking forward to getting the crowd involved.  I want to be the guy that everybody wants to see.

Favorite Food? Chicken

Favorite Restaurant?  Azuls.  It’s a Cajun restaurant in Texas.

If you can have dinner with two people in history, who would they be?  Deion Sanders and Darrelle Revis.

Favorite Athlete?  Deion Sanders

Favorite sport other than football? Basketball

Favorite sports team? Denver Broncos

Tell us about where you’re from, Austin, Texas?  There are many things to do in Austin.  You can go downtown to see the capital.  It’s a place where we open everyone with open arms.  It’s a great place with so much to do that makes you want to keep coming back.

What is your major? Geography.  I want to do landscaping and real estate.
