NORFOLK, Va. – Three members of the Old Dominion University field hockey team are set to compete at the U21 Women’s National Championship from June 21-25 at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
Sophomore back Kelsey Smither (Suffolk, Va.), redshirt freshman goalkeeper Megan Hept (Chesapeake, Va.) and freshman back Emily Harting (Lititz, Pa.) will represent the Lady Monarchs in this four-day event.
Over 600 athletes from across the country will participate in a multitude of events scheduled between June 21-30 in Virginia Beach and on the campus of Old Dominion University.
The Under-19 division kicks off the summer event from June 20-23 and Under-14 matches run June 21-24. The Under-21 and Futures Elite Championship then both run from June 20-25 and the Under-16 division concludes the National Futures Tournament from June 23-26.
“We are expecting our best Championship yet,” said Caitie Tornes, Manger of Futures and Olympic Development. “We received a lot of positive feedback when we created an Olympic-themed celebration and we’re bringing that same energy to the 2013 venue. It’s going to be a lot fun and our staff is truly excited for all of this year’s participants.
