Women's Soccer Signs Jasmine Diaz to National Letter of Intent

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's soccer Head Coach Joe Pereira announced the signing of midfielder Jasmine Diaz, Pereira announced on Wednesday. Diaz becomes the 11th member of the Lady Monarchs' 2013 class.

"We are very excited and fortunate to be adding a player like Jasmine this late in the process," Pereira said. "I am confident she will fit well into our program and help us achieve our goals for this upcoming season."

A native of New York, Diaz was a four-year letterwinner at Half Hollow Hills East High School. She was team captain in both her junior and senior seasons and is also a member of the National Honor Society and a Scholar-Athlete.

Diaz plays club soccer with the Albertson Fury ECNL, who recently took second place at the NEWSS and WAGS tournaments. While playing with the Fury she garnered attention from the Olympic Development Program of Eastern New York. She played ENY ODP for three years from 2008-2011.

Diaz joins an already impressive signing class for the 2013 campaign, a group that features student-athletes from New York, New Jersey, North Carolina and Virginia.

Jasmine Diaz - MF - Dix Hills, N.Y./ Half Hollow Hills East
Diaz is a midfielder from Half Hollow Hills East High School in New York. A four-year letterwinner and two-time team captain, Diaz was solid on the field and in the classroom, earning scholar-athlete honors as well as National Honor Society honors. She played for the Eastern New York ODP Team from 2008-11 and helped the squad to the tournament finals twice.

Carly Goldsborough - F - Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam
Goldsborough is a forward from Kellam High School. She is a member of the ECNL Virginia Rush and was chosen to the All-Event team at the 2010 Seattle tournament. At Kellam, Goldsborough has been a multiyear All-District player while also earning National Honor Society honors three times, Principals List, and won her schools Academic Athletic award for both soccer and field hockey four times.

Grace Haverly - MF - Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes
A midfielder from Ocean Lakes High School, Haverly earned honorable mention All-State honors last year as well as receiving first-team All-District and All-Region accolades. A member of Beach FC U-18 team, Haverly has been team captain and has participated in the Virginia ODP program from 2010-2012. She has also been a member of the National Honor Society from 2010-12.

Madison Hogan - F - Williamstown, N.J./Gloucester Catholic
A three-time Tri-County All-Star, Hogan earned South Jersey Times Player of the Year. A forward, she also received first-team All-Conference and All-State honors. Hogan has played club soccer for the South Jersey Elite Force and the Highland Wildcats. An All-Star section at the Triangle Friendlies and All-Event team at Bethesda, she is also a member of the USYSA Region 1 pool in 2013 and was chosen for the international trip to Portugal.


Rachel Johnson - MF/D - Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape Regional
Johnson was a four-year starter at Lenape High School in New Jersey. Johnson was an All-County, All-South Jersey, All-Conference and All-State selection in both her junior and senior seasons. As a senior she was also tabbed the South Jersey Defender of the year, Courier Post player of the year and was a Regional-All American. Johnson has played club soccer for both the Match Fit Chelsea and Highland Wildcats and participated in the New Jersey ODP program and the USYSA regional team program.

Erin Kinz - GK - Niagara Falls, N.Y./Lewiston Porter
A member of the Blackwatch Premier club soccer team, led her team to win both the New York State West National State Cup and twice won the US Club Soccer regionals. A three-time member of the NYSYSA West ODP team. At Lewiston Porter, Erin was a first-team All-Western NY selection and was chosen to the first-team Niagra Frontier league. She is the President of the Spanish National Honor Society and the Vice President of DECA.

Meredith Lenox - GK - Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield
Lenox was a four-year letter winner at Wakefield. A member of the CASL Elite team that was NCYSA state cup champions in 2011 and runners up in 2012. She also competed in basketball for both her high school and AAU programs and is involved in her high schools youth group and planet protector clubs.

Melanie Oaks - F - Virginia Beach, Va./Cox
A four-year starter and two-time Beach district honorable mention. She has led her team to the Beach-District Championship three times and the Eastern Region Championship twice. She played club soccer for Beach FC where she has been the team captain for three seasons. A member of the National Honor Society. Her brother, Ryan, is a member of the ODU men's soccer team.

Thyla Peterson - F/D - Manassas, Va./Manassas Park
Peterson helped the McLean ECNL 95's that won a national state cup championship in Virginia and a regional championship. A forward and defender, Peterson helped her club team to championships at the Jefferson Cup, CASL Showcase, The Virginian, WAGS, Region 1 premier league and Mclean tournaments. Peterson spent time in the USYSA ODP program at the State and Regional levels as well a starter on the Super Y League National ODP team.

Jackie Stroud - D - Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook
A defender at Millbrook High School, Stroud was the teams Player of the Year and also earned All-Conference and All-Region honors. In 2011, Stroud attended school in Fayetteville, Georgia where she was the Defender of the Year and first-team All-Georgia selection. A three-year participant in the State ODP program, Stroud plays her club soccer for CASL Elite leading her team to a NCYSA State cup championship in 2011 and runner up finish in 2012. In her senior year, Stroud organized a pre-season soccer tournament to benefit breast cancer awareness.

Morgan Vezina - F - Cary, N.C./Green Hope
Vezina was a four-year starter at Green Hope. A member of the CASL Elite club soccer team along side fellow ODU signees Jackie Stroud and Meredith Lenox. Vezina attended the 95 Regional Camp with the ODP program.
