WILLIAMSBURG, VA. (September 17) - Freshman Michael Tooley(Richmond, Va.) scoredwith nine minutes left in the first half to lift the Monarchs of OldDominion Universityto a 1-0 victory over Radford in the W&M/Nike Classic Friday afternoon.TheMonarchs are not 4-1, while Radford drops to 0-3-2.
Tooley's goal came in the 36th minute of the first half on an assistfrom sophomoreCarlos Mendes (Mineola, NY.), the 1999 CAA Rookie of the Year. RadfordoutshotODU, 8-4, but junior goalkeeper Matt Landman (Beverly, MA.) came up withthreesaves in his first start for the injured Chuck Connelly(Rockville, Md.).
The Monarchs play Loyola on Saturday in the Classics second round at4:30 p.m., at Busch Field in Williamsburg.
