JIM CORRIGAN
ASSISTANT COACH

Jim Corrigan is in his sixth year on the Monarch staff.His primary coaching responsibilities are working with the perimeterplayers. He is involved in the everyday aspect in the operation of theprogram including recruiting, scouting and academic monitoring of the teammembers.

Corrigan began his coaching career at Northern DurhamHigh School in Durham, NC., as an assistant to then head coach KevinBillerman. After two successful seasons he movedto Bishop McGuiness High School in Winston-Salem, NC., where he spent oneyear as the junior varsity coach before becoming the varsity head coach forfour years. During his four seasons at McGuiness, Corrigan took his teamto three straightNorth Carolina State Finals, winning the 1986-87 championship.

Corrigan was named North Carolina State Coach of the Year once andConference Coach of the Year three times duringthat stretch. Also, McGuiness compiled a 77-25 record and twice set schoolrecords for wins in a season during that same period. In 1987, he became anassistant at William and Mary where he served under Chuck Swenson for sevenyears.

Corrigan was an All-City/All County player in high school where heaveraged 26 points per game as a senior. He then went on to a career atDuke University under then coach Bill Foster. While at Duke, the BlueDevils recorded two Atlantic Coast Conference Championships and three tripsto the NCAA tournament, including the 1978 FINAL FOUR. During the 1979-80season Duke was ranked #1 in the country, as well as the number one amateurteam in the world.

Jim and his wife Sonja, have a daughter, Keenan (10)a son, Cole (6), and Drew(4). Their daughter Kennan starred inOprah Winfrey's 1998 TV movie "The Wedding" and is a frequent star incommercials. Jim graduated from Duke in 1980 with a degree in businessmanagement.
