Baseball Weekend Recap With Head Coach Chris Finwood

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University baseball team ended their season by sweeping Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. over the weekend. With the sweep, the Monarchs hit the 30-win mark. Last week, ODU also defeated Longwood at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex and lost to William and Mary at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, Va. ODU Director of Broadcasting, Ted Alexander caught up with head coach, Chris Finwood and discussed last week's games.


Ben Verlander ended the season with a .367 batting average, 11 homers, 46 runs scored, 37 RBI and 13 stolen bases. P.J. Higgins hit .336,Ben Slaton finished at .312 with three homers and 35 RBI and Connor Myers finished at .300. Josh Eldridge hit .297 and led the team with 50 RBI. Both Eldridge and Michael Perez hit six homers. As a team, ODU belted 40.

Andy Roberts finished with a 5-3 record and a 2.92 ERA, while Dean Ali was 4-3 with a 3.02 ERA and Ryan Yarbrough finished at 4-4 with a 3.27 ERA. ODU's team ERA was 4.09.
