SCOTTSDALE, AZ-- ODU freshman Ashton Newsom fired a 74 today and is tied fortenth at the 11th Annual Wyoming Cowboy Classic (Presented by Cleveland Golf/Srixon) being held at Talking Stick Golf Club.
As a team, the Monarchs are in fifth place after shooting 304 today, trailingtournament leader Wichita State by 10 strokes.
Newsom is just four strokes behind tournament co-leaders, Glen Scher of UCSanta Barbara and Louis Boyer of Wichita State who shot 70. Thomas Wilde and Seth Sweet are tied for 27th after shooting 76 in today's first round. Because of highwinds, the second round was cancelled and the teams will play only 18 holeson Tuesday.
