Monarchs Lose at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, NC-- Four Campbell University pitchers combined on a three-hitter to lead the Camels (25-5) to a 8-0 victory over the Old Dominion Monarchs (13-14) Wednesday night at Jim Perry Stadium.

Freshman secondbaseman Ben Verlander (Maidens, VA.) and junior shortstop Brian Bashara (Norfolk, VA.) each had a hit for the Monarchs, while Campbell pounded out 15.

Campbell was led by designated hitter Blake Boyce who had three hits and two RBI's on the night. Shortstop Brent Grahm, outfielder Trevor Lane and Clayton Brown each had two hits and two RBI for the Camels. Brown came into the game hitting .459 on the season.

Heath Bowers picked up his sixth win of the season for Campbell as he gaveup two hits with one walk and three strikeouts in six innings of work.

The Monarchs Verlander is now hitting .398, followed by Higgins at .300, whileBashara who has played in 11 games is hitting .471.
