Spring Game
Old Dominion University football culminated the spring with the annual Spring Game Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Team, led by quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who was 25-of-28 on the day for 186 yards and a touchdown, won the game over the White Team, 13-10.

Antonio Vaughan led the receivers with seven catches for 83 yards while Blair Roberts caught four for 35 yards and a 17-yard TD pass from Heinicke. Larry Pinkard also had four catches for 36 yards.

John Darr led the way defensively with seven tackles while Rodney Hunter had an interception.

2013 Captains
ODU Head Coach announced the Monarch captains for the 2013 season. They are quarterback Taylor Heinicke, left tackle Jack Lowney, defensive tackle Nate Barnes, and safety Andre Simmons. Only Heinicke is a returning captain.

Eventful Day
The 12th Monarchs came out to support the ODU football team as 2,985 were in attendance for the game. The Big Blue BBQ preceded the game and a number of fans came to the game following the BBQ. Following the game, there was a meet an autograph session with the Monarch players and coaches. The day wrapped up for ODU athletics as the Monarch baseball team played William and Mary at 4 p.m.

Up Next
The Monarchs begin the transition to FBS and open the 2013 season Saturday, Aug. 31 when they travel to East Carolina. ODU's home opener is Saturday, Sept. 14 against Howard.
