RESULTS
CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Old Dominion University rowing team completed the second and final day of competition at the 2013 Knecht Cup. Five different Lady Monarch' boats competed in various finals throughout the day on Sunday in Cherry Hill, N.J.
Old Dominion's Frosh/Novice Four boat made it to the Grand Finals, where they placed fifth with a time of 8:22.82. Fairfield (7:50.13) won the Frosh/Novice Four title, while George Mason A placed second (7:56.93).
The second ODU boat to advance to a top final after Saturday's performances was the Second Varsity Four group. In the Finals on Sunday, The Lady Monarchs placed fifth finishing in a time of 8:06.17. Old Dominion finished just four seconds behind Boston College A (8:02.13), who placed fourth. Kansas A (7:52.24) won the race and New Hampshire (7:57.50) took second.
In the Third Final of the Varsity Eight, Old Dominion's boat was crowned victorious after finishing in a time of 6:52.18. The Lady Monarchs finished a full five seconds before second place finisher, Drexel (6:57.83).
Old Dominion's Second Varsity Eight boat also produced a quality result with a second place finish in the Petite Final. ODU finished only three seconds behind Buffalo (6:59.34), but finished over six seconds ahead of third-place finisher, Alabama (7:08.97).
The ODU Varsity Four boat finished in sixth place in the Third Final on Sunday with a time of 8:17.85. George Mason A (7:58.93) was the only boat to crack the eight minute mark; Villanova B (8:04.88) placed second.
The Lady Monarchs will be back in the water on April 20-21 in Charlottesville, Va., as they will take on the Cavaliers of the University of Virginia.
