HEMPSTEAD, NY- The ODU Baseball Monarchs (17-14/7-8) hit the road to Hofstra for a three-Game CAA series against the Pride. Friday's game will begin at 3 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday's contests starting at 1 p.m.
Leading the Pride in hitting is Matt Reistetter at .343 with a team best 26 RBI, followed by Kenny Jackson at .311 with a team best four homers. Jared Hammer leads Hofstra with 10 doubles. Hofstra has 83 stolen bases with Jackson stealing 16 and Austin Nyman with 17.
Hofstra will start David D'Ericco (2-1/5.06) on Friday, Joe Burg (3-3/4.11) onSaturday and possibly David Jesch (2-1/6.14) on Sunday.
The Monarchs will start Dean Ali (2-2/2.09) on Friday, followed by Andy Roberts(2-2/ 2.82) on Saturday and Ryan Yarbrough (1-3/4.74) on Sunday. Ali ranks fifthin the CAA in ERA, while Roberts is 10th.
ODU ranks eighth in the CAA in hitting at .274 and sixth in pitching at 4.37while Hofstra is 10th in hitting at .263 and seventh in pitching at 5.51. Ali iseighth in strikeouts with 41, while senior Brandon Smith is tied for first withsix saves.
Junior outfielder Ben Verlander leads the CAA in homers (10), and slugging percentage at .821, and fourth in hitting at .406.Verlander and freshman ConnorMyers lead with six steals each, while Josh Eldridge leads the team with fourtriples and is second on team with 23 RBI.
