NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University women's lacrosse team returns to action on Sunday after nearly a week off as they travel to take on Saint Joseph's on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Finnesey Field.

Old Dominion (2-4) defeated American on March 9 at home, 15-11. Sophomore midfielder Christina Rea led the way with five goals and an assists while junior attacker Emily Austerberry added four goals and an assist. Junior attacker Courtney Clough scored her first two goals of the season in the second half while junior attacker Theresa Brady scored her first career goal late in the game for ODU to help the Lady Monarchs hold off the Eagles.

Saint Joseph's (5-2) is coming off a heartbreaking loss at Monmouth on Wednesday in which they fell in overtime, 9-8. The Hawks have wins over Manhattan, Campbell, Presbyterian, Wagner and Niagra this season with their other loss coming to cross-town rival Drexel.

The Lady Monarchs have a trio of players with 11 goals on the season in Rea, Austerberry and sophomore midfielder Ashmore Standing. Senior attacker Meredith Rogers has added eight goals and a team-high five assists. Defensively, senior Carolyn Burns has a team-high 15 groundballs while junior Kallie McCormick has a team-best 12 causted turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Karen Hayde has allowed 98 goals and posted 46 saves.

For the Hawks, four players have scored in double figures, led by senior attacker Meghan McDevitt's 17 goals and nine assists. Junior midfielder Val Paolucci has added 14 goals and six assists while junior attacker Abby Ananian has 10 goals and eight assists. Defensively, junior Brittany Hanrahan has scooped up 11 groundball and forced a team-high 10 turnovers while in goal, freshman Genevieve Giblin has seen the bulk of the work, allowing 29 goals to go with 21 saves.

ODU is 5-0 all-time against Saint Joseph's. This will be the sixth straight year the two teams have met. Last season in Norfolk on St. Patrick's Day, the Lady Monarchs defeated the Hawks, 10-4.
