Men's Tennis Ranked No. 55, Lopez Villa Returns to Singles Rankings

SKILLMAN, N.J. - For the sixth-straight week, Old Dominion University men's tennis earned a national ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, coming in at No. 55.

The Monarchs fell to current No. 59 Virginia Tech on Monday but are 10-4 heading into Friday night's match against Illinois State in Wilmington, N.C. ODU wraps up the spring break trip on Sunday when they face No. 50 Yale.

Sophomore Carlos Lopez Villa suffered his first setback of the year on Monday against Virginia Tech but returned to the singles rankings at No. 120. Lopez Villa is 13-1 on the season with his only loss to No. 68 Amerigo Contini of Virginia Tech.

Lopez Villa and doubles partner Can Cetinel jumped 10 spots doubles to No. 48. The pair is 10-3 on the year competing at the No. 1 spot in every match.
