NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University women's lacrosse team is back in action on the road beginning Saturday at 11:30 a.m. when they meet Jacksonville for the first time at D.B. Milne Field in Jacksonville, Fla.
Old Dominion (1-2) plays their second game of the week on Saturady after coming off a thrilling 15-9 come from behind victory over rival William and Mary on Tuesday night in Norfolk in the Lady Monarchs' home opener. Jacksonville (3-2) has won their past two contests over San Diego State and Presbyterian. The Dolphins also have a win over Vanderbilt this season while their losses are to No. 1 Syracuse and No. 3 Florida.
Down 7-2 late in the first half on Tuesday going into a 15-minute lightning delay, ODU went on a 13-2 run to end the game. Scoring seven straight goals at one point, junior attacker Emily Austerberry and sophomore midfielder Ashmore Standing powered the offense as Austerberry scored four goals and two assists while Standing score a game-high five goals and leads the team with nine goals this season.
For JU, senior attacker Amanda Hurley has 11 goals while sophomore attacker Taylor McCord has 10 goals and a team-high seven assists to power the Dolphin offense. Defensively, junior Brit Orashen has a team-high 12 draws to go with nine groundballs and eight caused turnovers. In goal, senior Karli Tobin has allowed 50 goals while posting 41 saves.
