Mairi Buchan has a 3.93 GPA in biology, is a violinist and has a knack for country line dancing.
She's a Scottish girl dying to learn Spanish, a dog lover and a list-maker, a fan of girly novels who has a passion for community service. She can tell you the name of every tendon in the human body.
You can call her Scottish or British, but don't think of calling her English or confuse her for Irish, or you'll be one of the few people to make her angry. She can ride horses, tap dance, perform ballet, run cross country and play soccer, and her name is on medical school short lists.
You may be exhausted, and we haven't even mentioned college basketball yet.
"I wouldn't say it's easy, but it's not as difficult as it sounds," the Old Dominion senior forward said.
That versatility and time management has led her to consecutive first-team Academic All-District honors despite one of the toughest majors at ODU, all while putting together her best season with the Lady Monarchs.
