NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's tennis won a 5-2 decision over George Washington Saturday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
ODU improved to 3-0 and takes on UMBC Sunday at 10 a.m.
The Lady Monarchs earned a tough doubles point to open the match, as Nika Khmolovska and Ivana Vukovic were 8-6 winners at No. 3 while Nikol Hristova and Juliana Pires clinched the point with an 8-7 win at No. 2.
Vukovic got ODU on the board in singles with an 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 whie Ivanova toughed out a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1. Lana Robins got GW on the board at No. 2 with a hard fought 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 3 over Nikol Hristova.
Stephanie Wei pulled the Colonials a little closer with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Nika Khmolovska clinched the match with wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
