NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's tennis started the year off 2-0 with a 7-0 win over Norfolk State and a 6-1 triumph over Howard on Saturday at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
ODU started the day with a dominant performance over Norfolk State.
Diana Ivanova delivered a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles with freshman Nikol Hristova cruising to an 6-2, 6-0 victory over Yvonne Kameone in her first collegiate match.
Fellow freshman Ivana Vukovic was solid at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Laura Gutierrez while Melissa Esnal Olguin was a 6-2, 6-2 winner No. 4 singles.
Nika Khmolovska defeated Maryna Kariuk 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and Faith Atiso finished off Kia Batiste 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
ODU earned the doubles point as Ivanova and Esnal Olguin won 8-0 at No. 2 and Vukovic and Khmolovska were 8-1 winners at No. 3.
In ODU's second match of the day, Hristova delivered her second career win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Brittney Morgan while Vukovic was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 2.
Juliana Pires earned a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 4 while Esnal Olguin and Khmolovska cruised to wins at No. 5 and No. 6. Ivanova fell in a tight 7-5, 7-5 battle to Katelyn Stokes.
In doubles, Ivanova and Esnal Olguin were 8-2 winners at No. 1 doubles while Hristova and Pires had an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
