Lady Monarchs Take on Towson in First Round of CAA Tournament

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - Old Dominion University women's basketball takes on Towson in the first round of the CAA Tournament on Thursday, March 8 at noon.

Old Dominion (10-20, 7-11) is the No. 8 seed while the Tigers (16-13, 7-11) are the No. 9 seed.

In the regular-season finale, ODU defeated Towson 65-50 to clinch the No. 8 seed. Jackie Cook tied her career-best with 20 points in the win while Tia Lewis added 14 points and Mairi Buchan chipped in 12.

Tia Lewis leads ODU with 16.5 points per game and in rebounds at 9.0 per game. She ranks sixth in the CAA in scoring and fourth in rebounding.

Cook is second on the team with 9.5 points per game while Ashley Betz-White averages 7.9 per game.

Betz-White leads all CAA freshmen in points per game, assists (105) and minutes played (31.5).

JoNiquia Guilford leads the team with 47 steals and is second on the squad with 66 assists.

Towson is 16-13 overall and 7-11 in CAA play. The Tigers have lost four-straightheading into the tournament, including dropping the final game of the regular season to Old Dominion, 65-50.

Krystal Parnell and Krystin Fields paced Towson with 16 apiece while the rest of the team combined for 18 points.

Parnell leads the Tigers with 12.0 points per game while Tanisha McTiller averages 11.1 per game.

The winner plays No. 1 seed Delaware Friday, March 9 at noon.
