Lady Monarchs Begin Home Stand With Drexel Thursday Night

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion returns from a three-game road trip to begin a three-game home stand Thursday night as they host Drexel at 7 p.m.

The Lady Monarchs are coming off a 59-57 win at UNCW while Drexel won at William and Mary, 78-59.

ODU put the clamps on UNCW, especially in the first half, holding the Seahawks to just 31 percent shooting. It was the 11th time this season ODU has held an opponent to under 35 percent in a half.

Shakeva Richards came off the bench to score a team-best 13 points and pulled down a career-high six boards in the win. Tia Lewis added 11 points and a team-high seven boards in the win.

Lewis leads the team and ranks fifth in the CAA with 17.7 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game.

Freshman Ashley Betz-White now has 89 assists on the year and is just 11 away from becoming the sixth rookie in school history to record 100 in her first season.

ODU leads the conference in assists in CAA games with 202. Betz-White leads the team and is fifth in the league with 58 of those assists while JoNiquia Guilford has 34 and Lewis has 30.

Drexel is 12-11 overall and 8-5 in the CAA.

The Dragons have had an up and down season, winning four of their first five to begin the year before dropping two of three.

Drexel is coming off a 78-59 win at William and Mary.

Kamile Nacickaite leads the team with 17.4 points per game while Hollie Mershon is second on the team with 15.1 points per game.

Drexel head coach Denise Dillon is currently tied for the most wins in school history with 144. She is tied with Lil Haas.

ODU is back in action on Sunday when they host the 10th Annual Hoops for the Cure game. The Lady Monarchs take on VCU at 3 p.m.
