Sidni Hoxha and Kimberley Rashleigh Named CAA Swimmers of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) announced on Tuesday that Sidni Hoxha and Kimberley Rashleigh of Old Dominion University were named CAA Swimmers of the Week.

This is the second time in three weeks that Hoxha has earned this award. Hoxha had an outstanding weekend for the Monarchs, breaking school records in the 100 and 200 (1:37.55) freestyle events at the Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C. Hoxha's time of 43.43 in the 100 free also set a new all-time CAA record. On the first day of competition, he won the 50 yard freestyle championship with a time of 19.9 seconds, which qualified him for the NCAA B-cut and made him eligible for the NCAA Championship. On the second day of competition, Hoxha took second in the 200 free with a time of 1:37.55, setting a new school record. Both times in the 100 and 200 free were also the top times recorded in the CAA this season.

Rashleigh also posted a very strong weekend at the Nike Cup for the Monarchs highlighted by a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.53. She set a school record in the 200 freestyle when she swam the first leg of the 800 yard freestyle relay in 1:49.62. Rashleigh also posted a time of 2:01 in the 200 IM final that qualified her to be eligible for the NCAA Championship in March. Rashleigh finished her weekend by winning the 400 IM with a time of 4:14.26 on the second day of competition. Her times in the 200 free, 400 IM and 200 IM were the fastest times recorded in the CAA this season.

Old Dominion will return to action on Dec. 1 when the Lady Monarchs will host George Washington and Rutgers; the men will host George Washintgton.
