Jackie Cook Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Jackie Cook has been named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday it was announced by the league office.

Cook (Hinckley, Ohio) earned the nod after leading the Lady Monarchs to a 2-0 record on the week with wins over USC Upstate and former CAA opponent VCU. The senior averaged team highs of 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

She opened the week scoring a career-high 24 points against USC Upstate in 27 minutes of play on 83.3 percent shooting (10-of-12) from the floor to go along with a career-high five steals. On Saturday, Cook missed tying her career-best by one in rebounds with 10 boards against VCU in recording her second career double-double as she added 12 points.

Cook finished the week shooting 66.7 percent (14-for-21) from the field, 66.7 percent (4-for-6) from long range and 80 percent (4-for-5) from the free-throw line. The senior also added six assists, seven steals and one block on the week for the Lady Monarchs.   

Old Dominion is back at it on Tuesday at 6 p.m. when they head on the road to face Maryland Eastern Shore.
