Nike Cup Day 2 Roundup

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University swimming and diving teams had another successful outing in day two of the three day Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Kimberley Rashleigh kept her impressive run going as she won the 400 IM championship with a time of 4:14.26. Rashleigh also was part of a relay team that placed fourth in the 800 yard freestyle relay along with Savannah Bowers, Morgan Johnson, and Danielle Naylor. Rashleigh's work did not end there as a team with her, Laura Cempel, Jessica Hubert, and Morgan Johnson were part of a relay team that finished seventh in the 200 medley.

Sidni Hoxha (1:37.55) finished a fingertip behind Jonathan Boffa (1:37.41) of N.C. State and took second place in the 200 yard freestyle final.

Jason Haigh completed the 100 yard breaststroke final in 57.22 which was good enough for a third place finish.

In the 100 yard fly race, Ashley Luchsinger finished third while teammate Jessica Hubert finished right behind Hubert in fifth place

Vitor Sa
finished in second place in the 100 yard butterfly championship with a time of 49.27 while Drew Crocket finished in fourth.

Preliminary Roundup

In the morning preliminary session, Kimberley Rashleigh continued her success in the water as she won the 400 yard IM race by posting a time of 4:17.

Vitor Sa (49.41) and Drew Crockett (49.88) went second and third out of 29 swimmers in the 100 yard preliminary butterfly. Barrett Miesfield of N.C. State finished in first with a time of 47.98.

Jessica Hubert (55.49) took fourth while Ashley Luchisinger (56.05) placed sixth out of 42 total competitors in the preliminary 100 yard butterfly.

In the 200 yard freestyle preliminary race, Sidni Hoxha cruised to a fifth place finish. Jason Haigh and Edward Hubert finished in sixth and seventh place in the 100 yard preliminary breaststroke race.

Old Dominion will be back in action tomorrow morning for preliminary runs beginning at 10 am while finals will start at 6 pm for the last day of the Nike Cup.
