NORFOLK, Va. –  The No. 10 Old Dominion University field hockey team continues their six-game homestand this weekend against a pair of CAA foes when they meet Towson on Friday at 5 p.m. and then takes on No. 18 Drexel on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

LAST TIME OUT
Old Dominion (8-3, 3-0) opened a six-game homestand last weekend and hosted their first CAA game of the season. On Friday, ODU got a goal in the 63rd minute on Friday by redshirt sophomore Nicole Goff with an assist from senior Kimberly Oakes to edge Richmond for a 2-1 victory. Senior Maartje van Rijswijk got the Lady Monarchs on the board in the first half after the initial shot by junior co-captain Kati Nearhouse was saved and the rebound was put in for the game’s first goal.

On Sunday in their CAA home opener, Old Dominion took a 3-0 halftime lead and never looked back as they improved to 3-0 in the CAA with a 5-1 win over Delaware. It was the fifth consecutive win for ODU who had goals from Danielle Clutter, Christy Longacre, Kimberly Oakes and two from Rosario Villagra.

RANKED LADY MONARCHS
ODU is ranked 10th in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. The Lady Monarchs have been ranked in the top-10 for 16 consecutive weeks dating back to last season.

SPREADING THE WEALTH
The Lady Monarchs have spread the wealth this season on the offensive end as 11 different players have scored a goal. Villagra and Longacre each have six goals apiece while freshman Sarah Breen had added five goals and six assists. Redshirt senior Marla Petriello has allowed just nine goals since she became the starter in the fifth game of the season for a 1.57 goals against average and has collected 25 saves while going 6-1 over that span.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson (0-11, 0-2) has yet to find a win this season. The Tigers have faced two ranked opponents previously and they are coming off a 3-1 loss at home to Drexel and a 4-0 loss at Saint Francis. Sophomore Courtney Branco leads the Tigers with five goals and two assists while freshman Heather Jenney has added four goals and an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Tashani Dickson has 81 saves this season while allowing 54 goals for a 4.91 goals against average.

DRAGONS REPORT
Drexel (9-3, 2-0) plays at No. 21 William & Mary on Friday night. The Dragons have faced four previous ranked teams this season and won three of them. Last weekend, they won at Towson, 3-1, and defeated No. 15 New Hampshire at home in a 3-2 overtime thriller. Senior Amanda Fleischut leads the Dragon offense with six goals and five assists while junior Lindsay McArdle had added six goals and three assists. In goal, sophomore Jantien Gunter has allowed just 15 goals all season for a 1.24 goals against average while collecting 56 saves.
