Harting Named CAA Field Hockey Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman back Emily Harting has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week after scoring her first collegiate goal on Wednesday to lift Old Dominion to victory in overtime it was announced on Tuesday by the league office.

Harting (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) scored her first collegiate goal on a penalty stroke in overtime last Wednesday to lift Old Dominion past William and Mary, 3-2. Harting was brought in off the bench in a crucial spot, and her goal lifted ODU to the win in its first overtime game of the season. The goal gave head coach Beth Anders a victory in her 700th career game on the sideline. Harting became the 12th different Lady Monarch to score a goal this season, and the third freshman to do so.

Harting’s award is fourth CAA Rookie of the Week honor for a Lady Monarch this season as freshman forward Sarah Breen earned the award on three previous occasions. 

Old Dominion (14-5) awaits a possible NCAA at-large berth, which will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 6th at 8 p.m. and streamed live on NCAA.com.
