NEWARK, Del. - Old Dominion University women's soccer and Delaware were locked in a defensive battle but Delaware's Tania Domingos got the games only goal in the 58th minute Sunday afternoon in Newark.
With the win, UD improves to 9-6 overall and 6-2 in CAA play while ODU drops to 3-12 overall and 1-6 in league play.
After a scoreless first half that saw the Blue Hens hold an 8-2 shot advantage, the Blue Hens got the only goal of the contest in the 58th minute when Domingos received a pass inside the box from Ali Miller and fired a shot just inside the right post to give UD the 1-0 lead.
ODU started the game with an Ashlee Coutu shot that was stopped by Jessica Levy while ODU mounted a late charge but Devin Dougherty's shot with three minutes to go was turned aside by Levy.
ODU goalkeeper Laura Bush kept the Lady Monarchs in the game by making 10 saves, her third-straight contests with double-digit saves.
Old Dominion returns home on Friday when they take on Hofstra at the ODU Soccer Stadium.
