WILMINGTON, N.C. - Old Dominion University men's tennis completed its first weekend of fall tennis this weekend at UNC Wilmington in the Landfall Tennis Event.
Carlos Lopez Villa led the Monarchs with two wins while Darrah Glavin, Can Cetinel and Zvonimir Podvinski picked up wins.
Lopez Villa earned an opening 7-5, 6-4 victory over East Carolina's Nicolas Soriano before dropping a touch three-set match to Jaime Vazquez of VCU, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. He finished with a 3-6, 6-4 (10-8) triumph over UNCW's Pedro Mol.
Ochagavia earned a 6-1, 6-4 win over Arkansas' Christian Lee. Podvinski garnered a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Santiago Munoz of Arkansas.
Glavin defeated ECU's Ross Nigro in a hard fought 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 match while Cetinel defeated Glavin 6-2, 6-1. Before facing Glavin, Cetinel fell in a grueling 3-6, 6-4 (10-6) match.
Ochagavia and Podvinski enjoyed success in doubles, defeating a pair of teams from East Carolina 8-4.
Lopez Villa and Tim Schweig defeated a team from Charlotte 8-3 while Glavin and Cetinel knocked off a team from Charlotte 8-1.
