Women's Soccer Falls Short at Towson, 3-1

TOWSON, Md. - Amber Cook scored late in the second half for Old Dominion but it wasn't enough as Towson scored late in the first half and twice in the second for a 3-1 victory Friday evening at Towson.

Towson (1-9-1) got on the board with 10 minutes left in the first half on a goal from Sofia Read off an assist from Cheyenne Skidmore.

Just before the Towson goal Aubrie Ewell had a great chance for ODU but Erin Quinn came up with the save for the Tigers.

Towson took the 1-0 lead into the break and made the score 2-0 on a goal from Alex Evitts in the 43rd minute off an assist from Katie Holtzapple.

The Tigers added another when Emily Banes scored off a Holtzapple corner kick to make the score 3-0.

Cook got ODU on the board with 27 seconds remaining. Cook fired a shot that was blocked by a Towson defender but she gathered the rebound and fired a shot to the left of Quinn for the goal to make the final score 3-1.

Towson outshot the Lady Monarchs 18-13 with both teams having nine shots on goal.

Laura Bush made six saves for ODU while Quinn made eight stops for Towson.

ODU is back in action Sunday afternoon when they take on George Mason at 2 p.m.
