Lacrosse Names Collins and Davis Captains for 2013 Season

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University Lacrosse team named senior midfielders Jordynn Collins and Shelby Davis as captains on Monday for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Collins and Davis were selected as captains by head coach Heather Holt. "We have named Shelby Davis and Jordynn Collins the captains for our 2012-2013 team," said Holt. "Shelby and Jordan are two of the hardest working and most dedicated players that we have had the pleasure of coaching at ODU.  I know that their passion for the program is contagious and will elevate our team to new heights."

Collins (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) played in all 17 games while starting in 11 of them last season. She scored seven goals and tacked on one assist, while scooping up nine groundballs and causing two turnovers. Collins set her career-high with two goals against Virginia Tech on March 24 and then scored twice again at Hofstra on April 20. For her career, Collins has gathered 11 groundballs, won five draw controls, and forced four turnovers.

Davis (Elmira, N.Y./Horseheads) has started all 47 games in her three-year career at Old Dominion. Davis scored two goals and had two assists during last season. She was fourth on the team with 25 groundballs and won 13 draw controls, while forcing 11 turnovers. For her career, Davis has collected up 61 groundballs, won 24 draw controls, and forced 25 turnovers.
