NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion sophomore quarterback Taylor Heinicke picked up a trio of national awards following his 486-yard, seven touchdown performance in the Monarchs' 70-14 win over Campbell last Saturday.
Heinicke was named a College Sporting News All-Star and the National Quarterback and Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
Heinicke's 486 passing yards, six yards shy of his career mark, were the 10th-highest total in CAA Football history, while his seven TD passes were an ODU record and one shy from equaling the league mark last done in 2004.
The second-year Monarch signal caller, who also picked up CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday, currently ranks second in the nation in total offense at 441.67 yards per game.
The ODU Football Monarchs (3-0) kick off the CAA portion of its 2012 campaign on Saturday, September 22nd against New Hampshire at noon in front of the Comcast SportsNet cameras. Kickoff is noon
