NORFOLK, Va. -- After racking up 486 passing yards and a school record seven touchdowns in the Football Monarchs' 70-14 win over Campbell Saturday, Old Dominion sophomore quarterback Taylor Heinicke was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week.
Heinicke's 486 passing yards, six yards shy of his career mark, were the 10th-highest total in CAA Football history, while his seven TD passes were one shy from equaling the league mark last done in 2004.
This is Heinicke's fifth CAA weekly award having won CAA Rookie of the Week three times in 2011 following the Monarchs' contests with UMass, James Madison, and Richmond. He earned Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season following the Monarchs' season opening victory over Duquesne.
The ODU Football Monarchs (3-0) kick off the CAA portion of its 2012 campaign on Saturday, September 22nd against New Hampshire at noon in front of the Comcast SportsNet cameras. Kickoff is noon.
