Lacrosse Earns Academic Awards from IWLCA

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women's lacrosse team was honored by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) this week with a pair of awards.

The IWLCA honored 173 student-athletes from 56 different institutions with inclusion in the 2012 Academic Honor Roll. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically.

Representing ODU on this year’s list are senior attacker Rebecca Reymann (Catonsville, Md.) and redshirt senior goalkeeper Sarah Geary (Springfield, Pa.) who each concluded their careers with the Lady Monarchs in 2012. Reymann, who earned her degree in health and physical education, started all 17 games and scored 22 goals with two assists while Geary, who earned her master's degree in special education, became ODU’s all-time saves leader this past season and collected 124 saves on the year.

Old Dominion was also one of 44 teams in Division I to earn Academic Squad honors that goes to teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
