Kent Bazemore To Sign With Golden State Warriors

SAN FRANCISCO-- Kent Bazemore, the two-time CAA Defensive Player of the Year willsign with the Golden State Warriors after impressive performances in the Las VegasSummer League.

Bazemore helped the Golden State Warriors go undefeated 5-0 at this year's summer league. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound swingman saw action in four games at Las Vegas, averaging 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.8 blocks in 20.5 minutes a game. His most i,pressive outing was the seven-block performance against the Chicago Bulls.

Kent was the 2011 Lefty Driesell Award winner as the nation's top defensive player. He was a First team All-CAA selection and All-District selection. Kent scored a career high 37 points against Drexel and 28 points at Missouri State in an ESPN Bracketbuster game. Kent is ODU's 20th all-time scorer with 1,416 career points and ODU's second all-time steals leader with 250.

Bazemore's 140 career games played is a new ODU record. Kent scored 27 points and 12 rebounds at Delaware and against Drexel. During the season, Kent was named to Hall of Fame Tip-Off All-Tournament squad after he had seven steals against South Florida where he also hit 12 of 14 free throws.

Kent and his fellow seniors were the winningest group in ODU history with 101 career wins which include two NCAA tournaments, a CIT Championship and CIT quarterfinals along with two CAA titles.

Kent became the 48th Monarch to reach 1,000 career points (vs. Richmond), and hit late baskets at Richmond and JMU to send games into overtime. One of four Monarchs with over 200 career steals. Kent graduated in May with degrees in Human Services and Criminal Justice.

Bazemore would become the ninth Monarch to play in the NBA and first since CalBowdler in 1999-2002 with the Atlanta Hawks.
