NEWPORT NEWS, VA-- Six ODU student athletes have been selected to the 2011-12 Virginia Sports Information Directors Academic All-State team. Selected were Maeghan Pardy women's rowing, Mairi Buchan women's basketball, Krzysztof Muzalewski of men's tennis, Jocelyn Weidner of women's soccer, Trian Iliadis of men's basketball and Ronnie Cameron of football.

Muzalewski (Torun, Poland) of men's tennis was the male recipient of the Jack Wilkins/James Howard Scholar Athlete of the Year. He defeated two nationally ranked opponents this season and earned second team All-CAA honors in singles. Muzalewski was also selected CAA Player of the week honors and helped lead ODU to the CAA semifinals . He graduated with a degree in economics and finance with a 3.91 grade point average.

Pardy (Ontario, Canada) earned All-CAA honors in 2012 as she helped ODU's Varsity 4 boat to third place at the CAA Championships. She also helped lead the Varsity 8 boat to second place in the Head of the Hooch and the Occoquan Sprints, beating both the University of North Carolina and Delaware. The Rowing's team MVP carries a perfect 4.0 GPA in psychology.

Cameron (Westbury, NY.)was the 2011 CAA Football Defensive Player of the Year and CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year for Football. He ranked second on the Monarch squad with 73 tackles (28 solo, 45 assisted) to go with a team-leading 17 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. He averaged 5.6 tackles per game, which was fourth among defensive lineman in the CAA and finished second in the league in tackles for loss averaging 1.31 per contest. Cameron maintained a 3.46 grade point average while completing his MBA in Information Technology. He earned All-America accolades from seven different publications in 2011, including first team honors from the AFCA, The Sports Network, and Beyond College Sports Network, as well as second team accolades from the AP and Phil Steele. Cameron finished his undergraduate degree in three years before graduating in December with his MBA. Cameron helped the Monarchs to their first-ever Top-10 ranking by making 10 stops with three for loss against James Madison in route to a 10-3 record and advancing to the second round of the FSC Football Playoffs. Cameron was presented the Tom Scott Award by the Norfolk Sports Club as the top senior athlete at ODU, and ODU Alumni Association's Male Athlete of the Year.

Weidner(Harrisburg, PA.) of women's soccer was the female recipient of the Jack Wilkins/James Howard Scholar Athlete of the Year award. She started 19 games at midfield for the Lady Monarchs. She scored ODU's first goal of the season and also assisted on goals against N.C. State and Arizona State. Weidner finished the season with three goals and two assists for eight points. The nursing major graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Iliadis (Perth, W.Australia) earned his third All-CAA Academic honor as he graduated with a 3.7 GPA in Bio Chemistry. Iliadis ranked 11th in the CAA in steals at 1.5 per game. He averaged 8.5 points and 2.4 assists this season. He scored a career high 22 points against JMU. Iliadis tore his ACL in the right knee in the second half of the Georgia State game and is out for the season. This is Trian's third selection to the All-State squad. He was also 2011 CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year for basketball and CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.

Buchan (Stirlingshire, Scotland) earned CAA All-Academic first-team honors for the second time posting a 3.92 GPA in biology (pre-med).Buchan was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. The red-shirt junior averaged 7.1 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game. She notched a career-high 20 points in the Lady Monarchs' 81-79 win at Hofstra on February 5.

To be recognized on the team consisting of all colleges in the commonwealth of Virginia, a student-athlete had to have a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and at least a sophomore eligibilty.
