NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's basketball assistant coach Adrienne Goodson will be inducted into the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday, May 17 at the Casino-in-the-Park in Jersey City, N.J.
The induction class includes Goodson (Bayonne), former NFL players Walker Lee Ashley (Snyder), Danan Hughes (Bayonne) and Frank Winters (Emerson), as well as former MLB player Willie Banks (St. Anthony). It's perhaps the greatest compilation of former professional athletes since the inaugural Hall of Fame class in 1991.
Goodson was on Old Dominion's 1985 NCAA National Championship team, scoring 323 points as a freshman, the seventh most by a first year player in school history. She was a two-time All-Sun Belt performer and was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year as a senior.
After ODU, she was the captain of the 1993 USA National Basketball team and played professionally in Brazil before playing in the American Basketball League (ABL). In 1999, she was selected by the Utah Starzz of the WNBA which started a four team, nine year playing career, which included a 2002 All-Star season with the Starzz.
