NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women's tennis won the doubles point but came up short falling to William and Mary 4-3 Friday at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
ODU got off to a strong start by winning the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and three spots.
Diana Ivanova and Aleksandra Mitrvoska won 8-4 at No. 1 while Nika Khmolovska and Faith Atiso clinched the point with an 8-3 win at No. 3.
William and Mary came back strong in singles by winning at No. 1, 2, 5 and 6.
Melissa Esnal Olguin got ODU's first singles triumph with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No.3 while Khmolovska was a 7-5, 6-2 winner at No. 5. Khmolovska avenged a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Johnson during the fall season.
"I have nothing but great things to say about the team today. We competed hard at every spot and I tip my hat to Nika for her hard fought win," head coach Dominic Manilla said. "Faith did a great job in doubles to help pull out the win and clinch the doubles point. We are getting better and looking good heading into the CAA Tournament."
