PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Old Dominion University women’s lacrosse team fell in their final game of the season to Drexel at Vidas Field on Sunday afternoon, 10-4.
Conditions were less than ideal on Sunday as cooler temperatures, steady wind and driving rain were persistent throughout the entire game. In their final game playing for Old Dominion (4-13, 1-6), all four Lady Monarch goals were scored by seniors as ODU could not avoid losing their sixth consecutive game.
Drexel (11-5, 4-3) got off to a quick start and scored the first four goals of the game before ODU was able to break through with two of the final three goals in the opening half. Senior midfielder Rebecca Hartrum provided the offense scoring twice on a pair of free position attempts. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Sarah Geary meanwhile racked up six saves by halftime.
The Dragons scored three goals after the half to take an 8-2 lead before Hartrum scored her third goal of the game, again on a free position shot, for the hat trick in her final career game at ODU. After two more Drexel goals, senior attacker Rebecca Reymann scored the final goal of the game on a free position shot for the Lady Monarchs’ fourth goal.
Everyone eligible and not injured was able to get into the game at some point for Old Dominion as Hartrum powered the offense with three goals. Geary racked up nine saves in the game in her last contest for ODU between the pipes. Lindsey Kovar had three goals while Alyse Maiden had a pair of goals and an assist to lead Drexel. Goalie Amanda Santandrea had five saves for the Dragons.
