Bernardini Earns Second CAA Player of the Week Award

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association named Old Dominion University senior midfielder Lisa Bernardini as the women’s lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season.

Bernardini (Langhorne, Pa./George School) was also tabbed as the CAA Player of the Week after the opening week of the season on Feb. 27. The senior recorded six goals and an assist last week in ODU’s narrow 14-13 loss on Wednesday at No. 9 Virginia and in the Lady Monarchs’ 14-10 comeback win at William & Mary on Sunday in their CAA opener.

Scoring in 10 out of 11 games this season and registering at least a point in all 11 games, Bernardini has recorded a hat trick in each of ODU’s last three games and has 11 goals in the last four contests. In addition, she has scored multiple goals in each of the last four games and has scored multiple goals in seven games this season as she has now tallied a team-high 26 goals on the year to go along with nine assists for a total of 35 points.

Moving up in several career categories this season, Bernardini has moved up to sole possession of fourth place all-time in points with 176 and is now seventh in goals all-time at ODU with 116. She is also second all-time in assists with 60.

ODU returns home for three of their next four games and opens CAA action at home on Friday against Delaware at 7 p.m. at the Powhatan Sports Complex.
