Three Lady Monarch Swimmers Named All-CAA

RICHMOND, Va. -- Three Lady Monarch swimmers - senior Erla Haraldsdottir (Njardvik, Iceland), junior Kimberley Rashleigh (Sydney, Australia), and freshman Yesim Giresunlu (Istanbul, Turkey), earned All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Haraldsdottir earned two All-CAA honors coming in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke brining her total to 16 all-conference selections during her four-year career with the Lady Monarchs. Taking third place in both events at the CAA Championships in late February, Haraldsdottir hit the wall in a time of 2:19.93 in the 200 breaststroke, while she captured a NCAA "B" cut time of 2:01.35 in the 200 individual medley.

Rashleigh also earned a pair of all-conference honors with NCAA "B" cut times coming in the 400 individual medley and 200 backstroke. Rashleight swam to a time of 4:17.20 for a second place finish in the individual medley while she bested her own school record by .32 seconds with her time of 1:58.54 to take second place in the backstroke.

Giresunlu picked up All-CAA accolades in the 1650 freestyle in her first appearance at the conference championships. She had a third place third place finish in the event setting a new ODU benchmark by three seconds with her time of 16:42.59.

The Old Dominion women's swimming and diving team concluded the 2012 CAA Championships in fifth place.
