NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University Women's Lacrosse team returns home on Wednesday to face the Richmond Spiders at the Powhatan Sports Complex. First draw is set for 4 p.m.
ODU (1-1) is coming off a 16-10 setback at American University on Saturday. The Lady Monarchs tied the game midway through the first half but the Eagles scored four of the final five goals in the first period and seven of the first eight goals after halftime to take control.
Eight different ODU players scored on Saturday led by senior attacker Rebecca Reymann and sophomore midfielder Emily Austerberry who each scored two goals apiece. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Sarah Geary had 11 saves for the Lady Monarchs in the loss.
Richmond (1-3) is coming off their first win of the season in a come from behind win at American on Feb. 29, 12-11. The Spiders dropped the first three games of the year to ACC foes in Duke, North Carolina and Virginia. Senior attacker Caitlin Fifield has nine goals while senior midfielder Mary Flowers has scored eight times to lead the UR attack. Flowers also has a team-high seven assists. Senior goalkeeper Victoria Roebuck has 37 saves in three games.
ODU is 10-7 against Richmond in the all-time series but the Spiders have won six of the last seven meetings with the Lady Monarchs’ last win coming in 2009 in Norfolk, 16-13.
