NORFOLK, Va. - Wesley Barrett won a thrilling three-set match at No. 3 singles to clinch a 4-3 victory for Old Dominion over Navy Sunday evening at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
With the team scored tied at three, Barrett and Navy's Calvin Mark were tied at one set apiece going into the third set. Mark went up 3-0 and 4-1 before battled back to tie the score at four all. Mark retook the lead at 5-4 but Barrett responded winning the final three games and the final set 7-5 to win the match for the Monarchs.
Krzysztof Muzalewski defeated Marcus Rebersak at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-4 while Carlos Lopez Villa cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles.
Can Cetinel defeated Nicholas Gutsche at No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-3.
Navy's only singles win on the court was a 6-2, 6-1 win by Blake Daniel. Chris Kenney won the No. 6 match by default.
Navy won the doubles point with a win at No. 1 and a default at No. 3. Lopez Villa and Alfredo Rodriguez were 8-5 winners at No. 2 doubles.
