A Look Back: Week 1 - Campbell
Story of the game: Freshman receiver Antonio Vaughan's breakout performance of 191 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns helps the Monarchs roll over Campbell for the third year in a row. Vaughan was named CAA Rookie of the Week. Former quarterback Thomas DeMarco starts the season off strong completing 29 of his 38 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns. ODU moves to 3-0 against Campbell in the program's short history. The win extended their win streak to six games going back to last season. The Monarchs start off the season at 1-0 with great momentum.

A Look Ahead: Week 1 - Duquesne
Duquesne enters 2012 coming off a 9-2 record, 7-1 in the NEC, where they finished tied for first in the NEC in just their fourth season as an associate member. Duquesne was nearly a playoff team last season, losing a tiebreaker to Albany that would have pushed them into the FCS playoffs. Leading the Dukes next season will be Third Team All-American selection Serge Kona. Kona switched from linebacker to free safety right before the 2011 season and managed to lead a secondary that led the nation in pass defense at 139.7 yards per game. He finished the season with two interceptions, 48 tackles, four tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles. The team is returning a total of nine starters, five on offense and four on defense. This will be the Monarch's first matchup against Duquesne in the program's history.
