NORFOLK, VA-- The Hofstra Pride (10-11/6-3) scored eight runs in the fourth inningto defeat ODU (9-14/2-4) in a rain shortened contest, 11-1 Sunday afternoon. The game was called in the seventh due to wet grounds.
ODU scored in the sixth inning with two outs. Joey Burney and Austin McGowan walked and Brett Frazier singled home Tutwiler for the RBI.
Hofstra was led by Danny Poma, Jared Hammer and Matt Reistetter, each with twoRBI's on the day. Taylor Stuart, Poma and Kenny Jackson each scored twice and hadtwo hits.
Stuart led off the fifth inning with a solo homer, his first of the season and Poma belted his third homer of the season leading off the third inning.
Hofstra's David Jesch improved his record to 3-0 as he pitched 5.2 innings allowing no runs, one walk and fanned seven ODU batters.
ODU freshman leftfielder Josh Eldridge led the Monarchs with two of the six hits for ODU.
The Monarchs return to action Tuesday evening at VMI for a 5 p.m. contest, thenhost Norfolk State Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.
