NORFOLK, Va.- A tennis packed day at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center that featured both Old Dominion University women's tennis and Old Dominion University men's tennis would not disappoint Monarch fans. The Lady Monarchs won their match 4-3 over the George Washington Colonials while playing alongside the men indoors.
Diana Ivanova and Melissa Esnal-Olguin defeated Mimi Hamling and Zoe Krohn 8-2 but Aleksandra Mitrovska with Nika Khmolovska and Juliana Pires with Faith Atiso dropped their doubles sets 9-7 and 8-3 respectively.
With the team score at 1-0, Aleksandra Mitrovska and Juliana Pires put the Lady Monarchs back on top winning in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) and (6-3, 6-2). Diana Ivanova came from behind to win nine straight games and win in straight sets 7-5, 6-0 over Leah Pascarella.
Things got interesting, as Faith Atiso and Melissa Esnal Olguin could not hold on and fell in their matches, but Nika Khmolovska broke the 3-3 tie and defeated Zoe Krohn in straight sets 7-5, 6-3, to secure the win for the Lady Monarchs.
