Women's Basketball Falls at JMU, 63-44

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Old Dominion University women's basketball jumped out to a 13-2 lead but James Madison regrouped and defeated the Lady Monarchs 63-44 Sunday evening in Harrisburg.

JoNiquia Guilford and Ashley Betz-White each scored four points at the start to put ODU on top.

Tarik Hislop scored a game-high 20 points as the Dukes came back from ODU's hot start to reel off a 9-2 run to get back into the game.

The Dukes followed with an 11-2 run to take a 22-19 lead and ended up taking a 32-23 lead into halftime.

After halftime, ODU closed the gap to five with a pair of foul shots from Myeisha Hall but JMU came back with eight-straight to push the lead back to 13.

Hall added four-straight free throws to cut the lead down to nine but James Madison pushed the lead back to 17 with nine minutes to go.

Betz-White led ODU with 10 points while Guilford added nine points and two steals. Tia Lewis chipped in with eight points and four boards.

Hislop added four assists for JMU while Lauren Whitehurst added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

ODU returns home for its final contest of the regular season when they take on Towson, Wed. Feb. 29 at 7 p.m.
