Lady Monarchs Fall Short Against Northeastern, 78-66

NORFOLK, Va. - Myeisha Hall scored a career-high 20 points but it wasn't enough as Northeastern defeated Old Dominion University women's basketball 78-66 Thursday night at the Ted Constant Center.

After falling behind early, Old Dominion fought back to tie the score at 55 on a jumper from Tia Lewis and after Northeastern retook the lead Hall hit a pair of free throws to tie the score back up.

After the Lady Monarchs tied the score the Huskies followed with a 10-0 run to push the lead back to 67-57.

ODU brought the lead down to seven on a three from Hall but could get no closer the rest of the way.

Northeastern pushed their lead to 11 with a three by Kerkhof but ODU followed with a 10-0 run to cut the lead to one at 45-44. Myeisha Hall had seven points to lead the Lady Monarchs during the run.

The Huskies pushed the lead back to five on another three from Kerkhof but Jackie Cook nailed a three while Shakeva Richards hit a jumper to tie the score at 53.

Ashley Betz-White and Jackie Cook gave ODU a quick 6-0 lead but Northeastern came back with a 17-0 run to take a 17-6 lead. Dani Iervolino had six points and Kerkhof had seven during the stretch. Shakeva Richards hit a jumper to stop the run for ODU.

The Huskies pushed the lead to 13 with a pair of Tunstull layups but Allison cut the lead down to 10 with her second three of the game. Allison scored eight-straight for ODU at one point.

Hall went a career-best 7-of-13 from the floor for her 20 points and Tia Lewis added 12 points and 10 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the year and passed assistant coach Adrienne Goodson for 11th on the ODU all-time scoring list.

Tiffany Minor added a career-high 10 points, all in the first half, as well as pulling down five rebounds. JoNiquia Guilford added a career-best five steals.

ODU's bench outscored Northeastern's 42-5.

Deanna Kerkhof led the Huskies with 24 points while Jewel Tunstull added 16 points and 10 boards. Jamie Conroy added 14 points while Dani Iervolino chipped in 10.

ODU is back on the road for the final away game of the year as they take on James Madison Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Tia Lewis passed Adrienne Goodson for 11th in school history and now has 1,578 career points. She also pulled down 10 boards and is sixth in school history with 1,099 rebounds. Becca Allison added eight points off the bench, her highest total since a career-high 11 November 26 against Seton Hall. Minor's previous career-high was eight at Stanford. Hall's previous high was 15, also against Northeastern.
