The Monarch men's swimming and diving team enters the competition with an 8-2 overall record including conference wins over 10-time CAA champion UNC-Wilmigton, as well as George Mason, Towson, and William & Mary.
Look for for top finishes from five-time CAA Swimmer of the Week senior Arni Arnason (Mosfellsbaer, Iceland), who won three events and set a pair of records at last year's championships, as well as the reigning CAA Rookie of the Year Sidni Hoxha (Tirane, Albania), the conference champion in the 500 and 100 freestyle in 2011. Additionally watch for sophomore Daniel Camozzo (Herndon, Va.), who placed second in last year's 200 and 500 freestyle and junior Jason Brame (Lynchburg, Va.), an All-CAA honoree last season as he placed third in the 400 individual medley en-route to a new Monarch benchmark.
The Lady Monarch women's swimmining and diving team enters the championships with a 7-6 mark and have posted wins against George Mason and Northeastern in conference action.
On the women's side, look for senior Erla Haraldsdottir (Njardvik, Iceland), who earned four All-CAA honors last season and swam in the 100 breaststroke at the 2011 NCAA Championships, as well as freshman Yesim Giresunlu (Istanbul, Turkey), the ODU record holder in the 1000 and 1650 freestyle, and junior Kimberley Rashleigh (Sydney, Australia), who came in second with a Lady Monarch record in the 200 backstroke in 2011.
