NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University men's tennis hosts their home opener against George Washington Friday, January 27 against George Washington at 3 p.m.
The Monarchs dropped two tough matches this past weekend in Atlanta, falling to No. 15 Georgia Tech and No. 65 Georgia State. This will be the first match of the season for the Colonials.
In the match against the Panthers, freshman Can Cetinel picked up the first singles win of his collegiate career, defeating Michael Vallejo at No. 6 singles, 7-5, 6-4.
The doubles team of Carlos Lopez Villa and Wesley Barrett earned their first win as a tandem, as they were victorious at No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
The Monarchs continue their 10-match homestand on Wednesday, Feb. 1 when they host Norfolk State at 1 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
